(Home School Project für die SchülerInnen der 4. Klassen)

In der Zeit von MO, 22. 04. bis FR, 26. 04. 2013 fand das 22. „Home School Project“ für SchülerInnen der 4. Klassen mit native speakers aus den USA und Großbritannien an der Schule statt. Die 37 TeilnehmerInnen wurden jeweils nach Binnendifferenzierung bzw. Leistungsgruppenniveau in drei Gruppen eingeteilt. Jede Gruppe wurde von einem eigenen native speaker betreut. Das Projekt umfasste täglich sechs Unterrichtseinheiten in englischer Sprache.

Thematisch wurde der Bereich „Daily life“ mit vertrauten Themenbereichen- besonders im Hinblick auf die bevorstehende Bildungsstandards-Überprüfung in der Fertigkeit „speaking“ (shopping dialogues, ordering meals, giving information about family/hobbies/friends) -vertiefend bearbeitet. Oberste Priorität hatte wie immer, die mündliche Kommunikation in der Fremdsprache.

Den Abschluss bildeten Präsentationen im Turnsaal der Rieger HS, zu denen die Eltern eingeladen waren. Die erarbeiteten Beiträge wurden in Form von sketches, role plays, acting, singing u.a. dargeboten.

Die Rückmeldungen der TeilnehmerInnen waren durchwegs sehr positiv.

Home School Project with native speakers at Rieger SHS und IT-HS Hartberg

The 22nd  English Home School Project took place again at Rieger SHS und IT-HS Hartberg from MON, April 22nd to FRI, April 26th 2013, this time with teachers from the US and GB. The 4th form students were given the opportunity of attending different classes according to their ability. 37 students had English tuition for six lessons a day from Monday to Friday. There were three groups, each of them being supervised by its own tutor.

Topics included: “DAILY LIFE” especially focusing the forthcoming “Bildungsstandards” in the speaking skill (shopping dialogues, ordering meals, giving information about family/ hobbies/friends). The main focus was on the oral communication in the foreign language.

During the week the native speakers concentrated on the topics with the students. Through this, the pupils got an insight into what life is really like in the English speaking world.

At the end of the project there were presentations of the three groups, in which the pupils were able to demonstrate their ability in communicating in a foreign language.

Children’s reports concerning the project and the native speakers were enthusiastic.
